Change Happens

There are some new, exciting happenings going on here with Little Moon Rising: products should be going up on the site pretty soon (thanks Mads for all of your invaluable help!), I'm leaving for the weekend to attend the SE Wise Women's Herbal Conference, local CPM Cindy Morrow has graciously offered to train me as a Midwife Assistant (which I cannot describe how excited I am for that!), hopefully some new exciting workshops are in the future with my partner, Justin, and other big things!

Even when the change is seen as good, it can be incredibly stressful and overwhelming at times. With all these comings (and inevitable goings) in my life, I've been thinking about change a lot recently. Change can be absolutely terrifying, it can be exhilarating, it can be confidence boosting, and it can give your self-doubt great ammo.

I have my moments of questioning whether or not I can do everything that I want to, but I know those thought patterns are just that self-sabatoging part of me that is scared to take chances and fail. I am currently going through a time in my life where all this change is reminding me of what I already know: that I can do anything and everything that I desire as long as I keep my eyes looking upward and stay true to my mission of helping others. Justin has been such an amazing support through a lot of these changes, reminding me that I am capable. And I know that when he's experiencing big changes that may seem scary or daunting, I have to return the favor in reminding him how intelligent, kind-hearted, and capable he is as well. We have to be there for each other, strangers and loved ones alike, and come from a place of deep understanding that change can be really hard {when there is resistance}. Acceptance has to come naturally from within, though, no one can convince another to truly embrace something they don't want to.

It's no hidden secret that how you think forms your perception of the world around you. If you're experiencing a big change and all you want to do is fight it and allow your feelings of self-doubt (that we all have) to consume your thoughts, well guess what-- that change is going to be one hell of a scary ride. But you don't want to suppress what you're feeling; it's going to come out eventually. Instead, make redirecting harmful/negative thought patterns into uplifting ones a practice in these times. When you're expressing anything other than acceptance, compassion, and patience for any person or situation, you are creating room for dis-ease somewhere in your life. Remember that you'll have many opportunities to change your thoughts & feelings towards any given thing, but you'll never get the opportunity to replace the words you spoke.

Continuously ask yourself why you are feeling the way you are until you reach the real root of concern--that is how you can confront and eventually move past these deep-seated fears. Train your mind to see the good in everything and find the courage to accept the things you cannot change, and happiness will then come naturally.

Yay, change!
